Health is a subjective state of emotional, physical, and social well-being in which illness and infirmity are totally absent. There is no such thing as healthy health because no health can be fully described as normal unless the person living in that condition is physically, emotionally and socially capable. Health is the total control over a person’s bodily functioning and mental health. In short it is the totality of bodily and psychological qualities, capacities, talents, knowledge and personality in an individual, which allow him to live in the fullest possible sense of his life. It is the sum total of an individual’s inner and outer resources, which enable him to live the life that he wants to live, to develop and sustain the personal identity that he wants to develop and sustain, and to achieve and maintain the highest levels of personal achievement and well-being that he wants to achieve and maintain.
Human growth has a beginning, and health is the fruit of that beginning. The concept of health is one of the oldest forms of biological thinking and philosophy. Ancient Egyptians believed in a “good”bad” health. The good health meant the well-being of life and soul. The bad health was defined as a life full of sickness, illness and mortality; the poor health meant death or sickness at the end of life.
In the ancient Greek culture, there were two schools of thought concerning what constitutes health. According to the first school of thought, physical health was equated with moral and mental health. According to the second school of thought, the two were mutually exclusive. The Hippocratic tradition on the other hand, took physical health as the basic need of life and as such, focused its attention on this need. It considered physical health as consisting of general physical well-being and also included a healthy body, mind and spirit. Thus it considered a healthy body as a necessary condition for a healthy mind and spirit. A healthy mind and spirit equate to a healthy mind and spirit, which in turn equates to a healthy mind and body.
In the second view, mental health was equated with physical health. It did not consider that mental health and physical health were mutually exclusive conditions, since mental health could be defined in many ways, including mental health as mental health and mental illness. The mental health was seen as having little to do with a healthy body. rather than a healthy mind. It was, therefore, often associated with the mental well-being of an individual, rather than his physical health. Mental health was understood as the emotional stability of an individual, his ability to think clearly and his sense of the meaning and value of life. and his social and intellectual development.
The difference between physical and mental health is primarily seen as the level of satisfaction attained by an individual through his experience of life and the level of well-being achieved through his experience of that experience. Physical health is an essential part of mental health, but it is not a complete part of mental health. The two are interdependent, and they are interdependent on each other. A healthy mental health cannot exist without a healthy physical body.
A health maintenance program is the best form of health maintenance program. The best way to maintain health is by a combination of healthy eating habits, proper sleep, regular exercise, adequate socializing, and appropriate rest. This combination is a way of keeping the mind and body strong and vibrant, while at the same time allowing the body to recover from the daily stress and strain of life. It helps the body to cope up with everyday changes in its environment and to adapt to them. A body that is healthy will have an increased capacity for achieving and maintaining the same levels of energy, vitality and performance that were once obtained without the use of a health maintenance program.
